What is brow waxing?
Brow waxing ___ £10
Brow waxing is a quick and precise hair-removal treatment that uses warm wax to remove unwanted hairs from the root. Your brow artist will assess your natural shape, discuss your preferred finish and carefully define the brows for a clean, balanced result.
Results usually stay neat for around 3–4 weeks, depending on your individual hair-growth cycle. Temporary redness or sensitivity can occur immediately after treatment and normally settles quickly.
How to prepare for your appointment
- Allow the brow hairs to grow for around 2–3 weeks where possible, and avoid tweezing immediately before your visit.
- Arrive with clean skin, free from make-up, oils, self-tan and heavy skincare around the brows.
- Avoid retinoids, exfoliating acids, peels and abrasive scrubs around the brow area before treatment. Timings vary by product strength, so follow your prescriber’s, skincare professional’s or brow artist’s advice.
- Avoid sunbeds, prolonged sun exposure and tanning before your appointment.
- Tell your brow artist about allergies, sensitive skin, prescription skincare, recent peels, laser treatments, cosmetic procedures, medication or previous reactions to wax.
- Bring a reference image if you have a particular shape in mind, although the finished result will be tailored to your natural brows.
Please note: Waxing may need to be postponed if the skin is broken, sunburnt, inflamed or affected by an active skin condition. A patch or sensitivity test may be required where advised by the product manufacturer, salon policy or your brow artist.
Brow waxing aftercare
For the first 24–48 hours
- Keep the area clean and avoid touching it unnecessarily.
- Avoid make-up, perfumed products, self-tan and active skincare directly over the treated area.
- Avoid hot showers, steam rooms, saunas, swimming, intense exercise and excessive sweating.
- Avoid direct sun exposure and sunbeds, and use suitable sun protection once the skin has settled.
- Do not scrub, exfoliate, pick or scratch the area.
- If needed, use a cool compress or a gentle soothing product recommended by your brow artist.
Mild redness or small bumps can be normal after waxing. If you experience persistent swelling, blistering, skin lifting, increasing pain or signs of infection, contact your brow artist and seek medical advice if needed.
