What is brow tinting?
Brow Tinting ___ £17
Brow tinting is a professional treatment that uses semi-permanent colour to deepen and define your natural brow hairs. It can make finer or lighter hairs more visible, create the appearance of fuller brows and reduce the need for daily brow make-up.
Your brow artist will select and blend a shade to complement your colouring and preferred finish. The colour usually lasts around 3–4 weeks on the brow hairs, while any temporary stain on the skin fades sooner. Longevity varies with your hair-growth cycle, skin type, cleansing routine and sun exposure.
How to prepare for your appointment
- Complete your patch test 48 hours before your appointment. Treatment cannot go ahead without a suitable patch-test result.
- Arrive with clean brows, free from make-up, oils, self-tan and heavy skincare.
- Avoid waxing, threading or tweezing on the day so the skin is calm before the tint is applied.
- Avoid retinoids, exfoliating acids and abrasive scrubs around the brows for at least 24–48 hours beforehand, or follow professional advice for stronger products.
- Tell your brow artist about allergies, sensitive skin, previous reactions to hair dye or tint, eye conditions, broken skin, medication and recent cosmetic procedures.
- Discuss your preferred shade at the start of the appointment; your artist will tailor the colour to create a natural or more defined finish.
Please note: Tinting may need to be postponed if the brow or eye area is sore, swollen, broken, inflamed or affected by an active infection. A negative patch test reduces risk but cannot guarantee that a reaction will not occur.
Brow tinting aftercare
For the first 24 hours
- Keep your brows dry and avoid steam, saunas, swimming and excessive sweating.
- Do not rub, scratch or touch the area unnecessarily.
- Avoid make-up, oils, perfumed products and active skincare directly over the brows.
- Avoid exfoliating products, retinoids, AHAs and BHAs around the brow area for 48 hours.
- Once the area has settled, use gentle, oil-free cleansing products and protect your brows from strong sun to help reduce premature fading.
The colour may look slightly darker immediately after treatment and will soften. If you experience itching, marked redness, swelling, blistering, burning or worsening discomfort, rinse the area with cool water, contact your brow artist promptly and seek medical advice if needed.
Frequently asked questions
The colour typically lasts around 3–4 weeks on the brow hairs. Oil-based products, exfoliation, frequent swimming and strong sun exposure may cause it to fade sooner.
Yes. A patch test is required 48 hours before your appointment. Treatment cannot go ahead without a suitable result, and a negative result does not completely rule out a reaction.
A brow tint usually takes around 15–30 minutes. Allow longer if shaping, waxing or threading is included.
The finished shade is agreed during consultation and tailored to you. Brows may appear slightly darker immediately after treatment, but the colour will soften over the following day or two.
The treatment should not be painful. Tell your brow artist immediately if you feel stinging, burning or discomfort.
It can help blend many grey, white or very light brow hairs, although results vary according to hair texture and the tint system used.
Yes, subject to consultation and skin suitability. Your brow artist will choose the safest order and may recommend spacing treatments if the skin is sensitive.
Many clients rebook every 3–4 weeks, depending on how quickly the colour fades and the brow hairs grow.
